Argentine President Cristina Fernandez is congratulating the director and actors of the "The Secret in Their Eyes," a local film that won the Oscar for best foreign-language film.

"Precious," the harrowing tale of an incest survivor's struggle for self-acceptance, swept the Spirit Awards on Friday, taking home five prizes at the independent film world's version of the Oscars.

A former vice president and advertising sales director for Sirius XM Radio has been named the new publisher of amNew York.
Newsday Media Group announced Friday that Paul Turcotte will begin his duties as publisher of the New York newspaper beginning on Monday. He will report to Newsday Media Group Publisher Terry Jimenez, amNew York's former publisher.
Turcotte was most recently at Sirius XM Radio. Before that he held senior management and sales positions with Hachette-Filipacch

The "Harry Potter" series has beaten "The Da Vinci Code" in a survey of which books Britons most want to pass on to the next generation.
One in five people chose the JK Rowling series, allowing it to top the list ahead of Dan Brown's religious thriller, according to a survey for World Book Day.
The survey also revealed that books are still a popular gift as three in four adults gave a book as a present in the past year, with people in Scotland leading the way.
